We suggest you consult with your health-care provider before signing up for this tour. Always better to be safe and know what vaccines you may need when travelling to Tanzania. Advice on Malaria and taking pills is recommended in East Africa, please consult with your family physician. Anyone who has any special medication should take enough supplies to last the duration of the trip and also pack extra in case of emergency extended stay.
If entering Tanzania East Africa directly there is no requirement for any vaccines, but always consult with your physician especially if you have not had certain vaccines for some time.

Tanzania requires all travelers to be fully vaccinated for travel. All travelers, must provide proof of being fully vaccinated before joining any trip. Proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test result will not be accepted as an alternative. Please check with your local authorities as well for boarding flights and their policies for travel. All travelers must submit proof of vaccination to Husna Vacations within 7 days prior to the start of the trip. COVID-19 testing will be required when landing at (JRO) Kilimanjaro Airport in the form of a Rapid Test ($10.00 USD). For safety and peace of mind we also recommend that you test yourself and family members 24-72 hours prior to departure from your home country.

All travelers must complete an online health assessment and submit to Husna Vacations within 24-48 hours of departure. If the Guest answers “yes” to any symptoms on the health assessment or has close contact with an individual with suspected infection, it may result in their inability to participate on the safari. The health assessment will screen for:

  • Temperature of 100.4 or higher
  • COVID-19 symptoms: cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, muscle pain or body aches, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, new onset of nausea, diarrhea or vomiting
  • Attendance at large gatherings within the previous 14 days
  • Domestic or international travel within the previous 14 days
  • Diagnosis of COVID-19
  • Contact with an individual diagnosed with COVID-19 in the previous 14 days

Passports must be valid for 6 months or more and have clear free pages if possible. It is a good idea to obtain a visa for Tanzania before leaving your country of origin, however, visas can also be obtained at the airport on arrival. If you are planning to get your visa at the airport (NOT RECOMMEDED). Zanzibar does not require a separate visa as its part of Tanzania. Please note that the visa application can only be made within three months of the date of travel.

Please note that US dollar bills printed before 2003 are not accepted in Tanzania, as there was a large amount of illegal processing of dollar bills in the country during that time. $1 USD = 2300 Tanzania Shillings TZS (approximate value). All major credit cards are accepted at hotels, lodges, restaurants and shopping areas, stores and malls. Local markets and areas, souvenir shops may only accept TZS or USD. Exchange your money before you travel as local rates may be higher.

The CDC requires anyone 2 years of age and over entering or re-entering the United States (including U.S. citizens and Legal Permanent Residents) to present a negative COVID-19 test before boarding their flight. Travelers will need to produce a negative viral test result within one day of travel to the U.S prior to the trip (24 hours). The Canadian Government requires the same. We will provide our guests with information on how to obtain the required testing on your trip, most tests will be conducted on the day prior to your departure. The cost is $50.00 USD and is subject to change.

Travelers will be required to monitor themselves and family members for COVID-19 symptoms daily. Should a traveler display COVID-19 symptom, Husna Vacations and the tour operator will determine whether they can continue on the trip. Expedition leaders will include health and safety reminders specific to each day’s itinerary in daily briefings.

Travelers face coverings-mask are optional. Physical distancing will not be required during indoor activities unless required by the local regulations. Travelers may be required to wear a face covering during some indoor activities. Travelers are not required to physical distance indoors while wearing masks. Face coverings are optional during outdoor activities and physical distancing outdoors is only required when stated by the local regulations. Guests must use a face covering-mask while in shared transportation (safari vehicles) with other guests not part of your family. Capacity during shared transportation in safari vehicles has been limited to 5 persons to obtain some distancing and reduce the spread of infections. Families in 1 vehicle are not required to wear a mask or face covering. Face coverings are not required when eating or drinking, or when participating in water activities, excursions or local attractions. (Please not that all points listed are subject to change at any time based on local and international regulations). Husna staff and tour staff must also follow guidelines for face covering and physical distancing throughout the trip.

Husna Vacations and the Tour operator will continue making every attempt to select providers of local services – such as restaurants, hotels, activities, excursions and transportation – that operate in accordance with health and safety protocols. We are not able to guarantee that all service providers will implement measures such as face coverings, physical distancing. All providers must adhere to the most current guidelines issued by their local, region-country and national health authorities.

Husna Vacations strongly encourages travelers to purchase their own travel insurance, including medical coverage, evacuation insurance, and trip cancellation or trip interruption coverage. Husna Vacations does not offer Insurance when you purchase your vacation package. Third party insurance providers can share the correct type of insurance you may require. Credit card companies also offer certain types of insurance based on your card type. It is always best to check with them before hand to make sure the insurance coverage is suitable for your trip.
