We have less than 1 week to go. I know you are all eager to make an escape from the dreary cold winter. Hang in there, your departure date is almost here, inshallah!

The Bahamas is filled with unique gems you’ll want to explore while you’re on the islands. There is something for everyone, whether you enjoy a calm stroll through a heritage walking tour, or experience a wild adventure at the various islands.

Here’s a list of what I feel are the  Top 10 Things You Should NOT Miss in the Bahamas.  Consider these for fun family day trips when adventure and curiosity strikes*!

  1. Exuma Islands
    With Saffire-blue, crystal clear waters, Exumas are untampered islands with fewer people and more nature. Visit the Thunderball Grotto where famous James Bond scenes were filmed. Exuma is made up of an intricate underwater cave system which you wouldn’t want to miss while snorkelling.


  2. Blue Lagoon Island
    Take a day trip to Blue Lagoon Island and enjoy the many adventures it has to offer. Only 3 miles away from Nassau, you can explore the Aqua Park, snorkel in the reef rich with tropical life, and even swim in hidden lagoons. Kayaking, paddleboards and other fun water sports are available to rent. Round boat trip and lunch included.

  3. Dolphin, Stingray & Sea Lion Encounters
    Children and adults alike can enjoy this fun and engaging interaction with dolphins, stingrays and sea lions on Blue Lagoon Island! They offer various sea animal encounters and swim options.

  4. Atlantis, Paradise Island
    Curious to see what the world renown Atlantis Resort has to offer? Book a day pass to tour to the Atlantis water parks, Dolphin Cay, Marine Habitat and beaches available on their resort. Space is limited so book well ahead. Access to the parks is only available for Atlantis resort members and Bahamian residents.

  5. Ardastra Gardens, Zoo, & Conservation Centre
    Get up close and personal with Bahama’s exotic birds, mammals and reptiles at their national zoo. Be sure to make the most of your day! Parks open from 9am-5pm with last entrance at 4 pm.
    Entrance Fee: Adults: $18.75; Children (4-12yrs): $9.50

  6. Clifton Heritage National Park
    If experiencing the local heritage and rich Bahamian history tickles your curiosity, take one of the several tours Clifton Heritage has to offer. Visit the Banana Hole, Sacred Spaces, Carriage & Great House, and the Coppice Forest Trail. Also be sure to visit African Slave Village in which many slaves were Muslims, and learn of its emancipation.

  7. Shopping
    You can’t leave without some souvenirs and local crafts. Visit the many shops you will find in Nassau city for their beautiful straw markets, handicrafts, local arts and essential. Here are some specific markets you might want to check out: Festival Place (Nassau), Bahamas Craft Center (Paradise Island), and Port Lucaya Marketplace (Grand Bahama Island).

  8. Powerboat Adventures
    Up for an amazing water adventure? Experience The Bahamas day excursions and wildlife shows. Available at Exuma and Nassau. Travel at high speeds through the beautiful Exuma Cays and discover the private island lagoon. See a shark up close and personal, with food shows and snorkelling.
